Time in Force (TIF)

Time in Force (TIF) Definition

Time in Force, like a lot of other jargon in trading and investing, has an abbreviation. Time in Force is commonly shortened to TIF and this is how it’s represented in cTrader. Time in Force is a property that is linked to an Order and describes the lifetime of the order. If the order is not triggered prior to the Time in Force condition being met, then it will be cancelled.

Some examples of Time in Force attributes are IOC (Immediate or Cancel), GTC (Good ‘til Canceled) and GTD (Good ‘til Date). All of which are available in cTrader.
