Position

Definition of Position in cTrader

The definition of a Position varies slightly depending on the context, but not by much. A Position in cTrader is an active Contract for Difference trade. Positions are the result of one or more Orders and one or more Deals. Positions in cTrader are slightly different to other platforms, that’s because a position can be increased, decreased and even switched from a long position to a short position and vice versa. A position is simply an open trade that may consist of many deals and orders. Until the volume of the position becomes zero, i.e. it’s completely and fully closed, the position holds the unrealized P&L. Only when the position is closed will the P&L be realized and reflected in your account. Positions also can be charged SWAPs at the end of each day.
